Small Steps Lead to Big Changes Over Time

Every single big goal you have can be broken down into a series of small steps.
This is the essence of self improvement: finding the small steps you can take now that will lead to big changes over time.
I've been practicing self improvement for almost 10 years now. Today, I look back on all the changes I've made and I can barely recognize who I once was.
But this change didn't happen overnight. It was slow, gradual, and it had many ups and downs.
In the moment, the goals and obstacles in our lives can seem very scary and daunting. This is why it's important to identify the small steps you can begin taking today that will eventually lead to those goals being accomplished.

You have no choice but to start where you are. So just identify the smallest step you can take - and give yourself time to do it. Even if it's just a short 5 minutes dedicated to your goal - it's a start - and it's better than nothing.

The present moment is your time to take action, but you also need to take actions that will eventually lead to the future you desire.
As you continue to take small steps, your growth begins to increase exponentially over time. As more and more time passes by, you too will one day look back and be awed by just how much progress you made.
Small steps are the best to take because they are both practical and easy to stay committed to. Rarely do people make a big change overnight - and if they try to, they very often get discouraged and give up right away.
You have to start small and go easy on yourself. Be patient. Try to keep the "bigger picture" in mind.

If you take these small steps, where will you be in 10, 20, 30, or 50 years? That's the ultimate question you want to ask yourself - that's the question you need to focus on.

Focus on what is in your power to change right now, and make a real effort to make that change.
Stop procrastinating. Stop making excuses. Stop waiting for the "perfect time" to get started. Take small action now - and you'll thank yourself later.
When I first started my psychology blog, I had no idea how much time it would take before I would be successful.
However, I wanted to do something that I could continue to build on forever. So I took small steps, and I continued to take small steps, and now I've created something this is bigger than I ever first imagined.
This idea can apply to any area of life or goal we may have.
